There are a lot of trendy services and styles that pop out every now and then in the beauty industry. Some of these trends are amazing, and we love them, and some are just gimmicky and short-lived. It's hard to tell sometimes as a consumer and even as a licensed professional.
You may have heard about a Korean lash lift. This style of lash lift is trending, and I just wanted to give some info on it and what the differences are from a regular lash lift. With a Korean lash lift, the lashes process step one of the service on a flat shield rather than the curved shield we normally use through the full process of the regular lash lift. After step one, the curved shield replaces the flat shield. Another difference is that the Korean lash lift uses a cysteamine-based formula, which is gentler than traditional formulas using thioglycolate. Also, this can be done, glueless. The adhesive we use is water-based and very simple, but if anyone were to have an issue with that, this could be a good alternative method.
What I've noticed is that this method is really helpful for estheticians who have trouble getting results with the traditional method, but it doesn't change too much for those of us who are already getting good results. That comes with experience and education. That being said, I've noticed that for certain lash types, this may be a better method, such as those with very stubborn, thick, or downward-pointing lashes.
As far as offering a Korean lash lift on my menu, it'll be described on the Lash Lift service as one of the methods I may use. I won't be adding it as a separate service. I think it feels dishonest, and since my lash lift product is already a cysteamine base and I'm not using extra products, etc., I don't think there's a need to. So, just know, it's an option. If you want to try it, though, just ask me if we can try that method, and I'll make sure to do it using that method.
