Dull Skin Weighing You Down?

There comes a time when you will look in the mirror and think, "Hmmmm, I look off", or maybe that's just me. I can tell when my skin needs some serious TLC when I feel like my skin does not glow, my makeup isn't sitting right, or it just feels different.
What can you do?
Start with your home routine. What are you using? For some, they may only be using a cleanser and moisturizer, while others are also using serums, toners, eye creams, etc.
As we age, especially after 20, our skin goes through changes within every decade, and our skin cycle slows down, and we don't slough off that dead skin as quickly. Hormone changes also affect our skin, the retention of hydration, the elasticity, etc. You want to make sure you are using products for this moment in your life.
I highly recommend, especially for ages 30+, that you bring in a Vitamin C product as well as a Retinoid or other exfoliating product. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. Not only can it help with brightening skin, but it also offers cell protection from environmental factors. Think of cutting open an apple and letting it sit. What happens? It oxidizes and changes color, and dries out. If you add lemon juice, it preserves the apple for longer. This is similar to using a Vitamin C product. For Retinoids, they act almost like a push pop, by pushing that dead skin up and off quicker than your skin normally can. They also stimulate collagen production, which can help with fine lines and wrinkles and brighten skin.
If you had to add one or two products to your routine, those are my recommendations. Make sure at the least you have a cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF that you wear daily. Unfortunately, if you do have a skin concern, you can't treat it with just those products. They will be beneficial, and while having a consistent routine is wonderful, you are going to need those targeted products to really make a difference. That being said, changes take time. It takes at least three months to see any changes, so be patient and consistent.
